About Us
At Erna Krouch Preschool, we strive to educate the whole child. Our students learn through active exploration and play in an environment which is rich in materials and opportunities to develop curiosity, socialization, and problem solving. Our teachers create an atmosphere of warmth, affection, and respect for each child. During a typical preschool day, there will be structured and unstructured periods, enabling children to learn at their own pace and grow in all aspects – intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and creative.

Our History
Erna Krouch Preschool was founded in 1950 at Temple B’nai Israel’s original downtown location. The school was started by Erna Krouch who saw the need for a safe place for children from all backgrounds to play and learn together. When it became evident that the old building was not large enough to hold the growing population, Erna and her brother Julius gave the Temple land that they owned on North Pennsylvania provided that the preschool would continue. The school was moved to the new location and named in honor of Erna Krouch.
We have been fortunate to have had many outstanding directors and teachers through the years, each adding new dimensions to our school and shaping much of what we still do today. Our current director, Vivian Cohen, began in 1996 and expanded our program to include classes for 2-year-olds. Erna Krouch Preschool is now known throughout the community as one of the leading preschools in Oklahoma City. We continue to follow Erna’s direction by operating as a non-denominational school serving children’s needs and representing Temple B’nai Israel as a good-will ambassador.
